Southwestern Health Resources Names New Senior Executive Officer

Farmers Branch, Texas – Southwestern Health Resources (SWHR), the clinically integrated network formed between UT Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) and Texas Health Resources, has hired a new senior executive officer. Jenny Reed, a proven leader with experience in strategy and performance management of clinically integrated networks and growing relationships with physicians and employers, joined the organization June 3.

Most recently, Reed served as the senior vice president of Value-Based Care for Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) and the executive administrator for the Baylor Scott & White Quality Alliance, BSWH’s clinically integrated network and accountable care organization (ACO). In this role, she guided strategy development, long- and short-term goals and alignment of organizational initiatives.

At SWHR, Reed will oversee payor and direct-to-employer strategy to achieve the aligned vision of its parent organizations – UT Southwestern Medical Center and Texas Health Resources – and to position our clinically integrated network for success in a dynamic reimbursement environment. She will be the primary executive responsible for relationships with managed care organizations, brokers and employers, working to create payor and value-based payment strategies.

“Jenny brings a wealth of experience in guiding initiatives of clinically integrated networks while never losing sight of what matters most – the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve,” said Rick McWhorter, Texas Health Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “We are excited to welcome her to the SWHR team and to see the contributions she will make to our community.”

“UT Southwestern and Texas Health are in a period of transformative collaboration as we work together to reach more patients and provide them with the exceptional outcomes and experience,” said Jonathan Efron, M.D., Executive Vice President for Health System Affairs at UT Southwestern. “We look forward to the role Jenny will play in helping us achieve those aims while making health care more affordable.”

A Louisiana native, Reed earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and holds a Master of Social Work from Louisiana State University.
