Southwestern Health Resources (SWHR) was featured in a D Magazine article for our efforts to reduce Medicare costs by finding more efficient ways to care for patients.
In 2019, SWHR's $52 million in savings was the most among 41 accountable care organizations participating in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' Next Generation ACO Model.
The article focuses on SWHR's use of data analytics and predictive technology to determine what patients need extra attention so they can stay healthy and avoid more expensive hospital and emergency room visits.
Andrew Ziskind, MD, SWHR Senior Executive Officer, was featured in the article. He said, "Our goal is to focus on doing the right thing, in the right place, at the right time, with the right providers and the right resources.
"I think we're continuing to break new ground as we look at new interventions that make people healthier and make health care less expensive."
