Southwestern Health Resources (SWHR) used its established value-based infrastructure to help network providers respond as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded, Healthcare Innovation reported.
Sanjay Doddamani, MD, SWHR Chief Physician Executive and Chief Operating Officer, noted in the interview that its population health model allowed for quick expansion of telemedicine across its practices, speeded up payments to community physicians and used targeted communications to urge at-risk patients not to avoid delaying acute care.
Another area of concern, Doddamani said, was the effect of COVID-19 on minority communities, which provide many essential workers. Data from patients, beneficiaries and community members informed messaging in high-prevalence areas.
